In my almost 50 years of collecting, I have never seen another piece like this.
Obviously sold at Disneyland in the early days (see the old turquoise triangle mark) it is a cube shaped ashtray with various department logos on all four sides. As you can see in the photo, one side says Disneyland, one says Walt Disney Music Company, One says Buena Vista and one side celebrates Walt Disney Productions.
No chips or cracks, it's in perfect condition, just like the day it was sold (most likely 1955).
Again, this is an extremely rare piece. Why pays $100s of dollars for pins that were made less than a year ago when you can have a truly rare piece for $150 plus actual shipping and insurance?
Hi Kate - Did you ever find out any further information on this, or did you sell it? I happen to have one exactly like it, but your site is the first and only reference I have ever found to this particular ashtray on line. If I had to make a guess, this wasn't a souvenir - it looks far more like a Disney corporate ashtray - like one that would have been used in offices back in the '60s. I was hoping to find more information about it before selling the one I have.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Chris
